Bryan Rivera
November 2, 1993 - August 6, 2012
My name is Bryan Mike Rivera-Ortiz, the young, proud son of Ninfa Ortiz and Esvin Rivera. I was born at Centinela hospital in Inglewood, California, and lived my entire life in the city of Hawthorne, California. I am half Ecuadorian and half Guatemalan, with deep roots in the Spanish culture. I am a tri-lingual student at California State University, Northridge. I speak fluent English, Spanish, and American Sign Language. I have been a skater most of my life because it is a really big thing happening in the city of Hawthorne. The legacy i wish to leave behind is that of an individual who had a love for all things in his life that was indescribable. I lived everyday of my life like there was no tomorrow because we are not guaranteed anything in life. I spoke with confidence, and acted wisely, all in pursuit of personal excellence and the love of others. My friends and family mean everything to me, and without them i wouldve never become the person i am proud to say i am. All my life i dealt with struggles that i never let phase my true character, and i take pride in that. No one knows how much i really sought to put a smile on everyone's face, that is all i truly live for. The world without smiling and laughter is a world i would not have liked to live in, therefore i tried to bring those two aspects into everything i did. Money cannot buy life, and memories do not fade like people do. The wise Bob Marley said "the people who are trying to make this world a worse dont take a day off, why should i?"
